Don't Get Lost in Lieberman

I hear a whole lot of talk on liberal radio about Joe Lieberman. I'm no fan of his. I think he is precisely the type of Democrat that needs to be unseated in 2006. But he's certainly not the only one and perhaps not the most significant; though you might not know that from media.

For example, how many people know that Hillary Clinton has a very impressive primary candidate in Jonathan Tasini (http://www.tasinifornewyork.org/)? He's right on all of the issues in which we find her so wrong; Iraq topping the list. She's an icon of the party so despite progressives' disappointment with her, my take is we're not ready to go full out to take her knees out. Well, Tasini is on the ballot and he very well may give her a run for her money in the primary is the Manhattan activist core really turns out. I hope so.

I encourage folks not to sucuumb to the "anyone but..." temptation; anyone but the republican, anyone but Bush, etc. Winning is one thing. Really changing the country is another.

Hillary is still seen as mighty liberal despite her support for Iraq and her very middle-of the road record - including this ridiculous support for the flag-burning amendment....

I don't love her politics, but for some reason I am still sucked into the icon-ness of her aura.... I dunno - somehow I still believe that she and Bill, deep down, want to do right....
